Now that the holidays are over I can finally get back to updating my blog for you guys. I hope everyone had a wonderful time making new memories with their loved ones. My daughter turned 8 on December 24th so the holiday time is always extra special in our house.

A few weeks ago I got to meet an adorable boy named Logan. I photographed Logan’s first cousin last year as a newborn so this was really extra wonderful. It’s so amazing when my client’s refer their friends and family members to me! I love you guys!  Logan was such a sweet boy with squishy cheeks. Here are a few pictures from his session that took place in my Brooklyn studio.

Finally I am getting around to blogging about this beautiful newborn session that took place a few weeks back. Things have not been slowing down here at the studio, which I am grateful for, but it sure does make it hard to find the time to catch up on the little things. For this session I traveled to Bronx, NY which is about an hour away from where I am in Brooklyn. I absolutely loved everything about this session! I pulled up to the building and I began wondering how I’m gonna get all my props up in the elevator to the apartment, and to my surprise and delight, a lovely doorman came over with a huge rolling cart!! Anyone who lugs around lots of heavy bulky items knows that a wagon with wheels is music to the ears! The family saved me a spot to park on the street because if you are not from NY let me just clue you in to a big part of NY living: THERE IS NEVER PARKING ANYWHERE IN THE CITY! Again, so grateful! And, as always I set up my props and began working with one of the sweetest little girls, 7 day old Emmy. Emmy has a big sister too, a beautiful blue eyes girl, but sister wasn’t quite in the mood to be photographed with her sister in the beginning so we gave her time to warm up. By the end of the session, big sister was ready for her new role. I am so glad I got to meet this sweet family, even got to talk camera gear with the dad which is always fun.

As I wrap up holiday sessions for 2015 I begin to reflect on the year that is coming to a close. I have been so blessed to have so many amazing clients this past year. So many of my clients become more like friends and family which makes my job that much more special. Watching bellies turn to babies, which turn to toddlers which then turn to older siblings is just amazing!! This isn’t my end of year post just yet but definitely stick around for that post because I will have a special coupon in that blog post which clients can take advantage of this coming new year.

Now, onto a preview of some of the holiday sessions from 2015:

I love getting to travel to Long Island NY for newborn shoots. Although it takes a lot of time and effort to pack up my entire studio and travel over an hour to my clients house, its worth it! This week I traveled to Bethpage which is about 55 min from Brooklyn and I blasted my new Adele CD the entire ride there. Luckily for me, traffic usually goes in the opposite direction that I was traveling that time of day so I made it there without any snags.

I got to my clients home on a nice quiet block and started to unload my car. I always joke to my husband that if I didn’t already own a minivan (because I have 3 kids) that I would probably want to buy one for when I need to lug around tons of props. I didn’t mind the unpacking too much that day because for December, this weather of mid 50’s is amazing!

Then I finally got to see the star of the show: Brandon. A beautiful 13 day old with tons of hair that stood straight up into the air. He also had lashed that most women only dream about. What a little heard breaker already. He was really sweet, almost didn’t cry and just ate and slept for me. I really enjoyed those baby snuggles with him. What lucky parents!

Here are a few sneak peaks from his session on Long Island:

A few weeks ago this adorable little 6 month old came to visit the studio for her 6 month session. The family was referred to me by a past client and that makes me so happy. Word of mouth is an incredibly powerful tool and each and every time a client tells their friend about me I truly feel blessed! The 6 month milestone is such a great one to capture. Babies at this age can usually sit on their own and cant crawl away yet so it makes it easier to photograph them in multiple types of set ups. At this age they are not afraid of strangers yet and LOVE to smile. What is better than that?! Now, im not saying being a child photographer is always roses and cake since babies at this age also need frequent naps so they tire easily. That is what happened in this session. Sweet little Mazal got tired half way through so we took a break for a nap and started up again later in the day. Again, all worth it when I get to give the family images like these!

Mazal is one of the prettiest babies I have ever seen. She has this warm colored skin and squishy cheeks. Here are a few beautiful images from her session:

Being a New York newborn photographer means getting to meet families from all around NY which is something I love! Recently I got to meet beautiful 7 day old Mia who came to me from Park Slope, Brooklyn. There are a few things that make me extra happy during a newborn photo session. First, when parents follow my session prep, which gets sent to all my newborn families the day before they come to the studio. The prep guide goes over lots tips to ensure that the session goes as smoothly as possible (example: feeding baby right before the session starts). Second, when families bring their baby for the newborn session at the recommended age which is 5-15 days old. The reason photographers recommend bringing baby at this age is that newborns tend to be super sleepy, have better skin, are less gassy/fussy, and are easier to pose into curly positions (like they were in the womb). Usually that means that your session will go faster and trust me, although you will love being in my hot cozy studio, you will be happy to go back home and sleep (or shower because you WILL sweat in my studio)! And third, when parents come to sessions and just relax and eat my snacks! I love it when parents just sit on my couch and watch in awe as I gently rock their baby to sleep and position them in the most adorable props. I want all my clients to feel comfortable when they come to my studio!

And now that I went off on a tangent, lets go back to the reason I am writing this blog post to begin with: Mia! Mia’s parent did everything that i just discussed above. It was such a pleasure having them over and such an honor photographing Mia. Beautiful parents and beautiful baby make for some amazing portraits. Mia was really quiet and sweet and was so easy to work with. Here are some images from this lovely session:
